Think you might be suffering from hearing loss? Our interactive tool offers the following tests:

  • Hearing Condition
  • Questionnaire
  • Speech & Noise

At the end of each test you will received a grading, and offers recommendations as to whether you should consult an audiologist. Please make sure your computer sound is switched on to take this hearing check. Click below to try the hearing test for yourself:

Should I use headphones or speakers for the Hearing Check?

You can use either. Adjust the volume to a comfortable level using the control on the relevant page, the controls in your operating system and/or the controls on your speakers or headphones. If you can hear the voice clearly, then you're ready to start the check. Because the check measures your ability to distinguish sounds at a fixed relative volume, the overall volume won’t affect the result.

Disclaimer. This test should not in any way be used to give an accurate diagnosis of a patient. If you think you may be suffering from hearing loss then always consult your local audiologist (as this test instructs you to do so). This test should merely be used as a guide only.

The Hearing Check is not intended for people with known hearing loss, or who use hearing aids. If you use hearing aids and you still want to take the Hearing Check, you should remove them before taking the Hearing Check. Remember, however, that the Hearing Checks are designed to help identify people who have hearing loss and encourage them to take action.

This Hearing Check will not cover all aspects of hearing nor is it a medical diagnosis. It cannot assess your ability to understand speech through hearing aids. If you would like a full hearing assessment, visit your GP and ask for a referral to the ENT or Audiology department at your local hospital.
