Decent hearing aids in my price range????
« on: January 12, 2012, 11:58:52 pm »
Hi - I am brand new here, and have finally come to grips with the fact that my hearing is not what it should be. I am scheduled for an ENT exam (along with his staff audiologist) in the next couple of days. Have a second appointment with another audiologist for late next week. I felt that getting two exams and two opinions would be the right thing to do. I have started looking at all the information about hearing aids and as you all know, it is very confusing.
I am concerned about the price of hearing aids. I have heard many stories of people paying $3000 and up for a hearing aid, and I just cannot do that.
My insurance coverage allows $1500 per ear, every 3 years. I really cannot spend thousands of dollars beyond that and I am wondering if it will be possible to find anything decent in that range? My insurance company has put me in contact with a company called EPIC Hearing, which will apparently direct-bill the insurance company up to my policy limits. The hearing aids are dispensed by a local audiologis, who will do all the follow up, etc.
Thanks for any help.
