Tight open fit hearing aid
« on: January 26, 2010, 08:47:07 pm »
Hi everybody,

I was told that I wouldn't be suitable for an open fit aid, but surprisingly I got one anyway.

However the open fit aid is very painful to wear. Will the pain subside, or might it be better for me to get a standard mould? My ears are quite small - do they have different sizes? I'm just a bit concerned that I could be causing myself a bit of damage with the ill fitting aid I'm using.

Thanks for your time. John.

Hi John
Try putting a little vasaline on the part which goes into your ear. If that does not work, Go back to where you obtained them from straight away.

Pain should not have been part of the deal when you obtained your hearing aids.
The pain will probably NOT go away
The pain WILL probably get worse
You may well damage your outer ear
Regards and good luck

Hi John !!!!

The open fit hearing aids come from 4mm to 10mm in diameter near about. Sizes of the open fit hearing aids, is adjustable, If you are having severe pain using those then leave them and at starting they pain a little due to adjustment but later after they get fit may be that they may not pain, so if it had been longer then you may leave them and opt for simpler one, else try for some more time and if they are comfortable then go on using.

Hi all.
You may think of hearing aids as those large, ugly looking devices, worn on the outside of the body to enable the wearer to hear but things have moved on a great deal.
By using  technology we now have hearing aids which are small, discreet and comfortable to wear. These digital hearing aids are fitted with a tiny microchip which will helpful to the people.
