Opinion needed for uni project - Design Hearing aid
« on: March 28, 2011, 03:29:13 am »
Hi all,

I am currently study at RMIT Industrial design, Melbourne, Australia.

As I decided to dedicate my final year project to redesigning hearing aid, I would like to hear more voice and opinion to help me gain better understanding of your thought and contribute my project on a solid ground.

Project abstract

Hearing aid frequently catches our attention when we see it being worn in public, and often with sympathy.

However, as quote from Aimee Mullins’ speaking on TEDtalk in 2009,which also been served as the project inspiration, “A prosthetic limb does not represent the need to replace loss, it can stand as a symbol that wearer has the power to create whatever it is that they want to create in that space.”

Therefore, hearing aid should not be recognised as a symbol of loss but an artefact that is expressive with personal identities and fun.

This project will focus on developing the hearing aid's cultural amplification as well as looking into the user experience. My first approach would be to understand how the current hearing aid product functions as well as analysing the experience and interaction the user has with it. This could then map out a different engagement between the two due to their expectation of it.

If you could, please answer the attached survey and sent me back at newbielink:mailto:wonghuiming@gmail.com [nonactive]

Much appreciation! ♥

Sincerely
Huiming Wong
