Lizzy that sounds really peculiar, to be honest I would have said exactly the same thing as your audiologist, with open fit hearing aids with open domes you really shouldn't be experiencing any occlusion at all. I would say it's not occlusion but something else you are experiencing. Can you post your hearing loss in both ears please?

My thoughts would be to initially increase the gain of the instruments.  Occlusion can be brought on by not enough overall gain, too little or too much low frequency gain, or not enough high frequency gain.

Good luck

I have a possible cause - At the age of 15 years old I was diagnosed with inner ear hearing loss (high frequencies). Six years ago I had a hearing gain after changing my diet but couldn't maintain it, therefore couldn't prove it.

These last fifteen months I have researched and experimented with my diet and medication hoping to prove a sustainable hearing gain (something which the doctors say is impossible. I've posted my result and conclusions so far.

To find out more about how changing your diet could improve your hearing please visit my blog at newbielink:http://dawnshearingnow.blogspot.com [nonactive] where I have posted everything I've tried - backed up with comments and credibility both from UK Hearing Research Center and from Long Island CA.
